Reel and video editing rates in India, 2026: what 142 public listings charge
We collected every public price we could find for video and reel editing in India on one day, 25 October 2026: IndiaMART service listings, Freelancer.in job bids and published editor rate cards. Here is what the numbers say, with the raw data so you can check our work.

Headline numbers
All prices are in rupees. "Median" is the middle price; the middle half of prices sits between the 25th and 75th percentile.

| Per finished minute | 30 | ₹672 | ₹1,250 | ₹3,000 | ₹70 – ₹29,999 |
| Per reel | 9 | ₹349 | ₹499 | ₹799 | ₹50 – ₹2,500 |
| Per job (Freelancer.in average bid) | 26 | ₹962 | ₹3,324 | ₹8,426 | ₹570 – ₹39,500 |

Median hourly price, by where the price came from
IndiaMART listed prices (n = 54): ₹1,375 / hour
Freelancer.in average bids on hourly jobs (n = 7): ₹475 / hour
Five things the data shows
1. Most sellers don't price "per reel"
Only 9 of 142 prices were per reel. Sellers mostly quote per hour (62) or per finished minute (30), which makes it hard for a buyer to know what one reel will cost. If you're hiring, ask for a per-reel or per-month quote in writing.
2. Listed prices and bid prices are different markets
On IndiaMART, where sellers publish a price for anyone to see, the median hourly rate was ₹1,375. On Freelancer.in, where freelancers compete for a specific job, the median average bid on hourly editing jobs was ₹475. Competition on a job post pushes prices down sharply, but a listing price is closer to what a walk-in client is quoted.
3. Per-reel prices cluster under ₹1,000
The nine per-reel prices had a middle half of ₹349 to ₹799. Published rate cards from editors and studios ranged from ₹349 (basic cut with captions) to ₹2,500 (a Gurugram studio's social-media reel). The two lowest points were bids on a single Freelancer.in job (₹50 and ₹100 a reel), which are below what most working editors charge.
4. Per-minute pricing has an extreme tail
Per-minute prices ranged from ₹70 (subtitling only) to ₹29,999 (a promotional video listing). The middle half, ₹672 to ₹3,000 a finished minute, is the useful range. The top end is production work (promos, AI avatars, corporate films), not editing your own footage.
5. Monthly packages are the cheapest per reel
One published rate card offers 15 edited shorts for ₹8,499 a month, about ₹567 a short, against ₹499–₹799 for the same tiers bought one at a time. Bulk deals are how creators get the per-reel price down. (Across all six monthly prices, from ₹500 to ₹15,000, the median was ₹8,499, but what a month includes varies too much to compare.)
How this compares with the rate guides
Editing agencies publish rate guides that are widely quoted. Our listing data sits at the lower end of their ranges:
| Source | Basic reel edit | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| viptro.com (25 Oct 2026) | ₹800–₹1,500 per reel | Per-reel median ₹499 |
| hunarbox.in (22 Oct 2026) | ₹300–₹1,000 per reel | Middle half ₹349–₹799 |
That makes sense: vendor guides describe what a professional service charges, while public listings include beginners and price-led sellers. Both are useful. The guides tell you what good work costs; this data tells you what the open market lists.
Methodology
- Date: every price was seen on 25 October 2026.
- Sources (public pages only, no logins):
- IndiaMART: the "Digital Video Editing Service" category page and the video-editing pages for Delhi, Mumbai, Thane, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Jaipur. 95 priced listings after removing duplicates (the same listing shown on two city pages) and non-services (monitors, editing hardware, software).
- Freelancer.in: the public "video editing" jobs list. 31 editing jobs with an average bid shown, plus 2 per-reel prices stated in bids on one reel-editing job. Job posts come from clients worldwide; bids are shown in rupees.
- Published rate cards: 13 tiers from three Indian editors/studios that publish prices (X Editor, Zenflow, Content Studio, Gurugram).
- Contra: 1 India-based short-form editor's public hourly rate (US$50, converted).
- Currency: the one USD price was converted at the ECB rate of 23 October 2026 (US$1 ≈ ₹94.94). Ranges (for example "₹400–₹750") were recorded as low and high and analysed at the midpoint.
- Classification: each price is tagged by its own unit (per hour, per minute, per reel, per project…) and by service type from the listing title (reel/short-form, YouTube/long-form, podcast, wedding, general). We never convert between units, because "per hour" and "per finished minute" are not comparable.
- Excluded: animation, 3D, app development and filming-only jobs; listings with "Get best price" and no figure. No personal names or phone numbers were collected.
- Not included: Fiverr (its gig search pages block automated access) and Upwork (returned an access error), so freelance-platform prices here come from Freelancer.in only.
Limitations
- Listing prices are not paid prices. Sellers may discount, and some listings use a low headline price to get enquiries.
- Small samples in some units. Per-reel (n = 9), per-month (n = 6) and per-video (n = 3) figures are indicative only.
- IndiaMART dominates. 95 of 142 points come from one marketplace, which skews towards small studios and B2B sellers.
- Units are messy. "Per hour" on IndiaMART can mean editing time or a minimum booking; we recorded what the listing said.
- One day, one snapshot. Prices change. We plan to repeat this every six months with the same method.

Where Instant Studio fits
If you shoot your own videos and post every week, the numbers above add up: a few reels a week at the per-reel median is a recurring monthly bill. Instant Studio edits your raw clips into finished reels on your own computer for ₹2,999 a month (cancel anytime, no per-reel fees), plus a paid Claude plan with Claude Code (Pro is enough to start), billed by Anthropic. It doesn't replace an editor for big creative concepts; see when hiring an editor is still the better choice.
